I can recommend this webcam as it is really good. A really well thought out design and exceptional picture quality make the Logitech C910 a good choice for a webcam. Check out some of the cheaper webcams by Logitech too.

The C910 is a little more expensive but the picture quality is immense and the stereo sound is really life like. I use mine for broadcasting webinars and it is ideal for this kind of project. It may be a bit over the top for Skyping your parents but I use it for that as well.
